The people of Womengig.com
Kate Goodnight - WomenGig.com Founder and President

Kate Goodnight – founder/prez
email kate...

Kate did publicity for the first Fabulosa Fest featuring women musicians in 2008 & was one of the talent bookers for the 2009 fest. In January 2009, Kate started the popular WomenGig@Trieste series in Berkeley, California, and is a frequent collaborator with other Bay Area music promoters.  The original idea for WomenGig.com grew from the difficulties of searching for women-fronted bands & publicizing shows.

Drawing on skills from 25 years as a project manager & database administrator/developer for nonprofits, Kate’s spent the last year researching and designing the conceptual plans for WomenGig.com.  By working with musicians, fans & other event promoters, the vision is to build a music community based on collaboration rather than competition and to increase opportunities for women in the music industry.

Byrd Hosch and the Kuntry Kays, Sister Moses, Maria Stanford (Big Brother and the Holding Company, Clair), Amanda Guilbeaux (Turbonegra, Blue Rabbit), Jeni Day (Color Puddy, The Jeni Day Band), Shelley Doty (Sistas in the Pit), Kat Downs (Sit Kitty Sit, Saints of Ruin), Judea Eden, Amy Meyers, April Cope and the Trophy Wives, Christina Kowalchuk, Sharon Lord, Karen Mullaly, and others.  He has been an independent recording and performing musician in the San Francisco area and elsewhere for many years and has a keen understanding of the challenges faced by independent musicians in what remains of the music "industry".

As a freelance information technology consultant for 10 years working on all kinds of projects, from web design and programming to kiosks to marketing projects for artists and commercial ventures, Andrew is uniquely qualified to bridge the distance between music and technology.  He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston.  He lived and performed in San Francisco for 15 years and currently lives in Tacoma, Washington, when not on the road with True Margrit or the Deborah Page Band.
